I love my little brother, but ever since he arrived, we just don't have much time to keep up our cyber-appearances! Guess that is what happens when you're too busy livin' it up. Since we have a 90-minute delay tomorrow due to the snow (in October!!!), my mom had a few minutes to post some of our expeditions in preparation for Halloween. First things first: we had to find some pumpkins for our "drive-in" movie night.

No trip to the farm is complete without apple cider donuts.

Before the movie night, I finally got to break the pinata I got for my birthday (in June).

(We had so much fun at movie night, our friend, Katharina Davis, was in charge of taking pictures (you can find them on Facebook).

The weekend before Halloween, we went to the Irish Club with Jillian and Lillian for a Harvest Festival!

Tomorrow is finally the big day, and I can't wait to wear my real costume. Ben already ruined the surprise on his blog, but if you check back here in a bit, I'll have pictures from trick-or-treating tomorrow!

This morning I got up at 5.15.
I told Daddy that I wanted to have a rainbow bagel with cream cheese.
But I didn't want to eat in the car, please.
Not in a tree, not in a house and not with a mouse.

I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do like rainbow bagels, Sam-I-Am.
I eat them when I paddle, paddle real far.Paddle real far like we are paddling to a star.
Paddling to the picnic not in a boat, not in a car,
and not in moat.
I paddle out into the Sound.
To have a picnic and get bounced around.

Out near the lighthouse, out near the fishes and birds.
We watch out for water monsters who act just absurd.

I eat my whole bagel, and a great orange juice box.
I float past the lighthouse and way past the docks.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Since Ben has come home, it's been nothing but fun around our house! I'm not sure if everyone gets to have as much fun when they get a new brother or sister, but I sure hope so. Ben's very first outing was to the Jennings Beach Carnival, where we ran into some of our friends and got to ride some super fun rides.

Then, my Auntie Susu came to visit on Easter weekend. We had a lot of fun coloring Easter eggs...

...and getting our nails done at Cleopatra Nails and Spa.

I even got an Easter bunny painted on my thumbs.

On Easter morning, I searched for and found my Easter basket, which was really a gardening planter full of candy, stickers, and gardening tools so that I can help my Dad in our garden!

There was even a funny surprise in my planter...but baby Benjamins don't get planted in gardens!

The following weekend, Mimi and Poppi came to visit for a couple of days. The weather is getting so nice that we were able to sit outside and make s'mores on the outdoor fire pit.

Yum, yum!

Even though baby Ben hasn't been able to really enjoy all of the fun things I have been doing, I always make sure he knows I love him. He comes with us just about everywhere, and that's the way I like it.

Baby Benjamin, Come Home Already!

My baby brother surprised me last weekend by coming out early! It's a good thing I helped get his room ready for him, since we weren't expecting him for at least another month.

I was a little surprised when Mimi brought me to the hospital to see Mommy and Ben, but there was no Ben!

No matter...I was just excited to see Mommy again. They explained that Ben had to stay in a special nursery in the hospital until he got a little bit bigger and stronger. So, I sent my lovey to the hospital to keep him company.

I think my lovey did a good job making Ben comfortable, because my mom and dad showed me a picture of him a couple of days later, and he didn't have all those tubes coming out of his nose anymore! I hope I get to meet him soon. He sure would look good in some of my princess dresses!

It's Just a Scratch

Well, at least, I didn't think it hurt that bad. I was just trying to get Mommy and Daddy ready for my baby brother's arrival. (Boys are much crazier than girls, you know.) I was just running around on the playground with my friend Rihanna when I ran into a boy from another classroom. We bonked heads and I cut my eye.

Mommy left work early to come get me. I felt fine by then, but we had to see the plastic surgeon, who recommended one little stitch. The problem was, I had to be wrapped up like a mummy and I didn't like that at all. I tried to tell my mom I was uncomfortable, but she said I had to be brave, calm, and strong. So I did some yoga breaths with her and that made me feel a little better, but I was still glad when it was over.

And really, it doesn't look so bad if you get me on my good side.

In fact, my mom and dad said I was a beautiful princess even with a black and blue eye!

Nikki Steals the Spotlight

Today, I decided I would practice my ball-la-let for my mom. I got out my ball-la-let instructions, asked Mommy to put on the CD, and danced away the morning.

The problem was, Nikki kept trying to steal my spotlight.

Whatever...I don't need her help to be a star. When we went to see Yoshitomo Nara's exhibit at the Asia Society a couple of weeks ago, I was a hit.

What I Did This Summer

Well, school started before anyone could blink, and now it's already been a couple of weeks and I haven't told you about the rest of my summer yet!

After Chicago, we went on a road trip to Ashburn, VA to see one of Mommy's best friends from college. She has a daughter who is just my same age, and we had a lot of fun together!

We also went to pick up a new dining room table, but I don't have a picture of that to show you. I do have a picture of our drive to Maine to spend a week with Grandma and Grandpa. That was a reaalllly long drive, but I didn't mind too much.

We didn't just go to Maine, we went all the way to Bar Harbor, Maine. Mommy & Daddy never made it all the way to Acadia National Park before, so we were all excited to see what the fuss was about.

But before we checked out the park, we had to check out some fresh lobsters...even though it was almost 9:30 p.m. by the time we got settled in and had dinner! I thought eating in my pjs might be more efficient, since it was so late.

Everyone said the water would be too cold to swim in, but since we were on Frenchman's Bay, we thought it felt just fine. Nikki liked it, too! We didn't think she was a water dog, but it turns out she likes swimming just fine, especially if we are in the water with her.

We drove into the park at sunset one night, just to snap a few shots at the top.

We weren't only interested in natural beauty on this trip, though--we also had to check out some of the local tourist attractions, like this one:

The best part was meeting Timber Tina and getting on stage with the lumber jills!

We also went for a ride on the Miss Samantha, a lobster boat made just to show us how it's done.

Those baby lobsters sure were cute, and while I was glad the fisherman had to throw them back in the water if they caught them, I was glad they got to keep the big ones...so I could eat them in lobster rolls!

It was a pretty full summer, and there's even some time with our friends at the Jersey shore that I haven't had a chance to talk about. But, now that it's back to school, I have to save my time for homework!

Midsummer Mayhem

Now that Mommy's got a blog of her own, she keeps forgetting to update mine! I am happy to report that I have had a jam-packed summer so far. Mommy & I spent a week in Chicago while Daddy attended a workshop for work, and we made sure that we did all of the things Mimi's been wanting to do with me for the last year!


We went to the Lincoln Park Zoo...

...and celebrated Uncle Garrett's dad's b-day at Arlington Racetrack.

The binoculars were a totally big help, since we were in a private room, right next to the announcer's booth!

I was a big help with my cousin, Nathan.


At the Botanic Gardens, I showed Mimi how my growth spurt made me taller than the flowers!

We went to the historic Choo Choo restaurant in Des Plaines for burgers and shakes served by a choo-choo-track on the bar.

It was a lot of fun, but all that running around really did a number on Nathan and me.

I also spent some time at home, but even then I was working!

I did an even better job than Noni's regular manicurist.

The trip included lots of fun sightseeing, but it wouldn't have been complete without seeing some of my favorite people. Unfortunately, I had so much fun hanging out with everyone that I forgot to take pictures! No pictures of time hanging at Grandma and Grandpa's house, or our trip to St. Louis for my cousin Logan's baptism, either. I guess life is really about living in the moment...not remembering to document all of them!

School's Out!

Now that school is finally over (well, for Mommy anyway--Daddy is hanging in for his very last day today) it's time to start planning some summer fun. Grandma and Grandpa helped me get through the end of the school year with a special visit for my birthday.

My birthday cake had my favorite princess on it: Ariel, the little mermaid! I love to sing like Ariel, and read all about her adventures with her friends Flounder, Sebastian, and Scuttle.

One of the things Grandpa wanted to do while he was here was visit Stone Barn Farm, so we took a road trip one day while Mommy and Daddy were at work.

I really enjoyed seeing the sheep and chickens and other animals at the farm. Then, on Saturday, we took a road trip to Cato Corner Farm, which makes some yummy cheeses that Grandpa had tasted all the way back in Chicago! (Well, everyone else says they're yummy--I wouldn't touch them because they were too stinky!)

There were only cows at Cato Corner Farm, but we got to pet some of them in the barn.

I had an open house at my new preschool, to celebrate the end of the school year and introduce us to each other before we start up the school year in August. I am really excited to be going to a big kids' school in the fall!

But, that will come soon enough. Until then, I am looking forward to playing at the park, swimming in our neighbor Dawn's pool, and going to the beach!

Carnival Days

Well, folks, the carnival's come to town--and looks like it might be around for a while. We missed it by minutes in Fairfield, but caught some rides in Rowayton.

The bars on the ferris wheel were a little too high, but the motorcycle was just the right size...

Spring Break Road Trip Recap

I am sure I am not the first to say that spending approximately 40 hours in a car in a week is more than enough, but let me just say it: no amount of Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Thomas the Train, or Charlotte's Web can make your butt not be sore when you get home! (You just might not notice it until then.)
The first leg of our trip was Fairfield to St. Louis. Google Maps said it would take 16.5 hours, but we knew it would take longer. It ended up taking a LOT longer, but mostly due to some interesting stops along the way. This was NOT one of them (who am I kidding, the general store was AWESOME even if Mom and Dad wouldn't buy me any candy).
Our route took us through the corner of W. Virginia, where we stopped at the Wheeling Skate Park. Unfortunately, there was just a skate park...no playground for me, so Daddy couldn't get more than a few minutes of skating in (I was BORED from being in the car all day!)
Our last stop before arriving in St. Louis was for dinner. We weren't able to find Jeff's favorite bbq joint in Dayton, so we ate at Rudy's. Not bad for a chain bbq joint, but not all that good, either. The beans and rice were pretty yummy, though!
It's hard to read, but the sign says: Thank You for Visiting Ohio...So Much to Discover! (I am not sure what there is to discover, but it certainly can't be found on route 70, or 80, or any of the other routes we've been on through Ohio!)
The weather in St. Louis was a LOT warmer than we expected, but that was all right since it meant lots of time outside playing! My Aunt Lisa and Uncle Dave and new cousin Logan went to see the arch on Sunday. We spent some time in the museum but more time walking around outside in the park and by the river.
Monday was a lot less successful...bad news came in threes for us: first, the Soulard Farmer's Market was closed (fyi, it's only open Wednesdays through Saturdays), then, the bbq joint that had the pig jowl sandwich Daddy wanted was gone, and then the Magic House was closed (I admit, there were a few tears when Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie Lisa told me that there would be no princess park for me).
The next stop on my whirlwind Midwest tour was in Chicago, to meet my OTHER new cousin, Nathan! Ironically, here is a picture of me with my Aunt Susu and Logan (but he's Aunt Deedee's baby!)
The highlight of the week (aside from spending lots of time with all of my grandparents) was the Princess Party Mimi threw for me! Mommy was a little jealous, since it was her birthday and not mine (but we pretended it was mine anyway, and I got LOTS of presents!)
We all got to be princesses for a while, even Noni!After a bunch of Pez and some great cookies, I got a little silly, even for a princess. I had a great time in Chicago! Can't wait until the next visit.

No worries, though, because it's all in good fun! This past weekend, I had TWO birthday parties to attend. One was for my friend Lola's baby sister, who turned one. The other party was for my friend Kyle, from daycare. All my buddies were at My Gym, where we got to run around and play on all kinds of fun stuff!
A couple of weeks ago, we had no school for almost a whole week because the power was out in lower Fairfield County...so we high-tailed it to NYC to go to MOMA. We saw a bunch of scary guys at the Tim Burton exhibit, but I wasn't scared!

Ok...maybe just a little.

I have also been super-busy on Friday afternoons, learning how to swim with my new teachers!

A Very Special Valentine's Day Treat

Auntie Amy came to visit for a long weekend over Valentine's Day and President's Day. This time, it was all play and NO work for the three of us (me, Mommy, and Amy--Daddy was off playing in the skate parks in and around Phoenix, AZ for the weekend).
Our first stop was the Sono Aquarium, where we got to see fishies and river otters and cow-nosed rays.
After a day looking at sea creatures, we went home to EAT some sea creatures!
After dinner, Amy and I relaxed on the couch with my new South African penguin.
This is the ferry boat that Amy and Mommy were supposed to take to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on Monday...but because so many people had the day off from work, the lines were too long and they wouldn't have been able to pick me up from Kiki's house on time! Hopefully next time they'll get to do the full tour.
One of the gifts Amy brought me was a t-shirt from her roller derby league. Now I'm a roller girl in training!
The name is already taken, but until I can figure out my own derby name (Ella the Exterminator?) it'll do just fine!
And just for fun, here's a shot of my latest snowman! This one actually looks a little more like Frosty, although he was a little tipsy and fell down by the next day.

The best part about today's day off is, Mommy and Daddy knew about it early last night, so we all did a happy celebratory dance before we went to bed, knowing we could "sleep in" today (I slept ALL the way until 7:20!). Nikki had to wear her dancing shoes.
The snow was perfect for packing into snowballs, and I made my very first snow-thing, all by myself!
Nikki takes her job as "watchdog" very seriously. She guarded the new member of our family to make sure nobody messed with it.
I hope we have another snow day tomorrow, but Mommy said don't get my hopes up.

Who said the "von" didn't indicate royalty?

So, Daddy told me that not so long ago, Grandpa went on a fact-finding mission to discover whether there was any royalty in the von Wahlde family, since the "von" could possibly mean royalty. Well, as it turns out, in German, the "von" in our name just means "from." As in, "from Wahlde." Doesn't mean a girl can't dream.

It was Better than Twelve Days of Christmas

Well, Christmas started early for me this year when everyone started sending me presents around St. Nicholas' Day and then didn't stop sending them until the day we left for Chicago, where I got even MORE presents! But, Mommy & Daddy taught me about the real reason for Christmas, which isn't the presents, but all the time I got to spend with family and friends...and Rudolph...and Baby Jesus, of course.

A Less-Than Happy Thanksgiving

Mommy jinxed us when she told Grandpa how we've all been so healthy for the last month or more...and I woke up last night with a high fever that has been slowly getting better all day today, although the doctor said I should probably take some antibiotics for my runny nose and fever.
Before I got sick, I have been taking full advantage of the 60-degree days by going for bike rides, long walks with Nicky, and playing in the park.
I'm ready for winter though, now that I have my new hat from Grandma. She sent my cute elves and hat for St. Nick's Day...I couldn't wait until then, though...and opened everything right away!
I kind of look a little like an elf myself! Maybe Santa will let me help with the presents this year.

Halloween Tricks and Other Treats

I continued my celebration of Halloween by wearing my special PJs all week long...
...and my really cool "scary girl" shirt that Grandma sent me.
So, as it turns out, Halloween is a BIG party in our neighborhood. We invited all our friends over to come have some chili and cider and candy with us. This year, the whole Back clan came to party, and judging by how much fun we all had, I bet next year's party is gonna be HUGE! Trick-or-treaters started coming to our house as early as 4:30...we got so many that we ran out of candy--twice!
We had so much fun passing out candy to everyone in the neighborhood, we forgot to go trick-or-treating ourselves!
A couple other things have happened since Halloween, but we've been so busy I haven't had time to tell everyone about it! Stay tuned for news of Auntie Susu's visit and other fun fall things I've been up to!

Auntie Amy's Crafty Visit

When Mom found some really cool fabric for curtains for my bedroom, she called Auntie Amy to the rescue to help sew them for her. Luckily, Auntie Amy was willing to lug her sewing machine all the way to Connecticut to help Mommy finish decorating my room!Don't they look cool?
Since Amy made such short work out of the curtains, she also had time to help Mommy replace the ugly paisley fabric on the entry bench with some really COOL paisley!
It matches Daddy's color scheme perfectly...and is a lot softer and nicer to sit on, too!
Amy did all this work for us, and still had time to hang out and play with me lots. Since I was sick, they couldn't go out exploring New York City, which I was pretty happy about, cuz it meant more time with her! I hope she comes back soon. Maybe next time, she could bring Truffle!

Old MacDonald Had a Farm...

EIEIO! Last weekend, we went to Lake City, Minnesota for Mike & Jill's wedding.
Daddy was the official wedding photographer, and he took lots of great pictures of everyone having a really fun time.
I had a blast! I danced...
...and danced...
...and danced some more!
I also spent some time on the dance floor skateboarding.
I danced with everyone at the wedding, except Mommy. I didn't want her to embarrass me on the dance floor, so I made her stand on the sidelines and watch, until I danced so much I got very tired and really wanted to go back to the hotel. Mommy put me in the backpack and then danced some more. I told you she was going to embarrass me!

New House, New Baby

Well, fur baby that is! As a consolation prize for having to go back to work (and daycare), we got a new doggie the night before school started!
Her name is Nikki, and she's about three years old, which is perfect because it means she's old enough to let me rough-house with her, and she knows better than to rough-house back.
She's my new "weeeeelllly BIG doggie" and she can be as tall as Daddy when she wants to be.
But when we're just hanging out, she really likes to curl up into a corner and relax...sometimes you forget she's even there!

Getting Some Summer Stuff In

We did such a good job moving into our new house that we found some time to go to the beach, Beardsley Zoo, The Stamford Museum & Nature Center, and more beach! It was perfect timing, since it got really hot the week we moved. We spend a day at Long Beach in NY...
...and spent a few days with John & Bridget in Bradley Beach. I didn't want to leave!Lillian and I jumped on the bouncy spider at the Nature Center...they had the best playground I've ever been to, with a three story slide!
Mommy & Daddy tried to get me to sit for a family photo...I just wanted to run and play!
I did a really good job driving the tractor...maybe I'll be a farmer when I grow up!
Mommy & Daddy say there's a beach real close to our house now, too. Hopefully we'll get to spend lots of time there even after they go back to work...there's always weekends!

Our Forever Home (I hope!)

Sorry it has taken so long to update my blog, but I have been busy helping Mommy and Daddy with moving into our new house! So far, I have lived in a lot of different houses. Sometimes it gets confusing--I thought our new house was Bob's (the realtor's) house for a while; I also thought Ella's house was far away and I was sort of sad and wanted to go home. But after I saw Ella's house all empty it finally sunk in that Bob's house was now OUR house!So, everyone probably already saw the outside of the house when we posted about finding it and making the offer. This is a picture of the front entry; Daddy is so exhausted from all the hard work painting it and unpacking things that he had to take a little nap on our new rug.
This is the first view of the living room when you walk in the front door and look to your right. Behind me is "Daddy's couch"--it's the couch for reading and other stuff--NOT watching TV! Mommy says maybe I should spend more time on this couch than the other one. I told her "it's summer, Mom! Back off!" That made Mommy mad; I think it's funny when Mommy gets mad.
If you walk into the living room and turn left, you get this view of the rest of the living room and the dining room. Our old kitchen table and chairs look kinda silly in the dining room, but the sellers forgot that we wanted to buy their dining room table and chairs, so we have to make do for a while.
You can get to the kitchen from both the dining room and the front hall. It makes for great games of "I'm gonna get you!" but you have to watch where you're going so you don't bump your head on the doorways or tables as you run past them. Owie!This is a view of the kitchen sink and stuff, from the basement door (it's unfinished now; I'll post pics once Daddy builds my dance studio and climbing wall). As you can tell, the kitchen is really nice, but sort of small, especially with our big dishwasher. At least it's easy to move around the kitchen! Until we can build an island with a dishwasher in it, we're still using the butcher block that Mimi thought was a silly crazy idea to move out to Mommy's first apartment, in New York City. She thought it was way too heavy to carry up four flights of stairs! (Mommy said Mimi was right about that, but Mommy's glad she's had it all these years and still feels happy knowing she's got one of Mimi's old favorite pieces).
Now let's head upstairs to see the bedrooms!
The guest room is the first room at the top of the stairs. It's a little small for a queen-sized bed, but everybody knows two adults can't fit on a full bed. It's ok though, because guest rooms don't really need dressers or any other furniture.
This is Mommy and Daddy's room. It's really big, because it used to be two bedrooms that the old owners converted into one. They did a really nice job on it: they did a really nice job on everything in the house. Mommy has been running around the house all week going "oh cool! look at this!"

For now, they are probably going to put a desk under that far window, since the office can't go in the attic until the floor has been redone and it is insulated and drywalled. The attic is pretty cool though; hopefully we'll have some pics of it refinished soon!
This is Mommy and Daddy's closet. It's 8' x 10', which Mommy says is really good since she has to share with Daddy. But, the doors are only 5' wide, which means it's really hard to get to the last two feet of clothes on either side. Mommy said that won't do at all; Daddy has to reframe the doors to at least 7'. When he does that, they're gonna put in a really cool organizer for all their stuff.
Now we're going down the hall to the bathroom. Mommy & Daddy's doorway is near right; mine is far left. The bathroom is right next to my room, but the walls are so thick that you can't hear a thing when my door is shut. It's great! I've slept in until 7:30 or 8 am the last two days! (I've also been up really late having fun with all our friends who have been coming by to see the house).

And last, but not least--my room! Mommy convinced Daddy to paint it two different shades of purple so it would look like a sunset. I love it! This is the view from the doorway.
This is the view from the closet, which Daddy painted with chalkboard paint. How many kids get to draw with chalk in their very own bedrooms?? I'm really excited to be finally "home"--I hope we don't have to move again for a very, very, very long time. Not just because it's a lot of work, but because I really love our new house and already feel like it's a "forever home."

Summer in the (Really) Windy City (Part 2)

So, everyone knows how much I love swimming and playing in the water. So, I thought I'd share some of my favorite moments in (and out of) the water!
My aunts Suzie and Diana took me to the local water park, Mystic Waters, for a few hours of fun in the sun...well at least, there was sun before we got there!
A few days later, Auntie Suzie called from Wilmette beach to say the weather was perfect for a day of sun and sand, so Mimi, Mommy, and I hopped in the car and headed on over.
Despite the cool, cloudy weather, I also got to swim in my Uncle Rick's pool (since he keeps it at 89 degrees), with my cousins Richard and Charlie. They let me jump in over and over and over again and didn't get tired of zipping me around the pool.
I also spent some time out of the water, at my mom's favorite childhood amusement park, Kiddieland! It's really sad I won't be able to go back ever again, since the family that owns the place is fighting and wants to sell the land to Costco. I mean, I like Costco a lot, especially those super big grocery carts I get to ride in, but Kiddieland is waaaay cooler.I cried when the merry-go-round was over because I thought it was so much fun, but then mommy and Amy showed me all the other cool rides I could go on.
The racing cars and all the other car rides were awesome, cuz I got to drive all by myself!
Well, I had to share the driving with Dylan and Declan, Amy's nephew and niece. But they were cool about it.

Summer in the (Really) Windy City

It's been a cool (literally and figuratively) summer in Chicago, and I've been keeping busy with all my Chicago friends and family. We kicked off the summer with my Auntie Suzie's wedding at the Park Ridge Country Club. I got to be the flower girl and walk down the aisle all by myself (almost)!
After the wedding, my mom and dad took off for The James hotel for two nights and ditched me for three whole days...but my mom and Amy made up for it by taking me to see the "scary guys" (pirates) at the Field Museum.
I got to make music with some really cool instruments...
...and Amy helped me make a totally wicked pirate hat!
I also got to celebrate my birthday with all of my family. Mimi made me a super delicious chocolate cake, and Amy made carrot cake cupcakes for Uncle Phil...but I got to lick the frosting off of one.
I got a ton of super cool presents from everyone: a new bucket of bubbles, new Adidas, some crocs with octopus & turtle gibbets, a fancy purple tutu, a raincoat and umbrella, and all sorts of other great gifts. Here are just a few snapshots of them all!

I've done a lot more things since all this has happened: Mystic Waters, the beach, and Kiddieland to name a few! But I'm off to Lincoln Park Zoo tomorrow, so I need to get my rest. I'll have to fill you in on the rest later!

All kinds of people came! Lauren came from Wilton, which was such a nice surprise. We've known each other since we were both inside babies.

Rose came over, too. It's nice to have someone older who can show me the ropes on the bicycle and tricycle.

Off to Prom!

Just a l'il trim before the "real haircut"

Yeah, yeah, I know...me and Daddy both needed haircuts real bad. Now that the weather's getting warm and the windows are always down on the car, my hair kept getting in my eyes and mouth. Daddy's, too. That's why we both got haircuts this week!

This past weekend, my friends Ava and Lillian both celebrated their 1st birthdays, and I helped them eat cake!
I also went on my very first merry-go-round ride with Christian and Hudson: one older guy and one younger guy. Works for me!
No offense to Christian, cuz he's a pretty cute dude...but I still have my heart set on Hudson.
That wasn't the only fun I had this past weekend: I also hung out with Dede and Roxy and Jeff. Dede's got all kinds of fun toys for her baby-to-be that I "test drove" for her!
"Uncle" Dan also came to visit us. I helped him floss his teeth. Teeth are very important.
My favorite part of staying home on a Saturday morning is playing "dress up."

(Pre)Mothers' Day

Daddy played along with my idea to go for a "Bike Ride!" on Saturday through the Northern part of Norwalk, the Silvermine District. We only rode 15 miles, but most importantly, we got to stop and I got a bagel AND chicken.

Then we got back on the bikes and had a "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"-ly fun fast ride home. Even with all the chicken curry that daddy ate.
Mommy kept stopping to take photos of the pretty scenery... it was foggy and overcast, but with the fenders we all stayed dry. Phew!

A Great "Summer" Weekend in the Spring

Two weekends ago when the weather first turned around, we went on two great adventures: to NYC and to the Gunks. Victor & Paula were spending the weekend in NYC, so we made all the obligatory rounds: Joe's Pizza in Greenwich Village...
...the Union Square outdoor street fairs...
...and finished at Jeollado for some yummy sushi! (The place where both Vic and I had our first bites of sushi--a long, long time ago).
No, Daddy...MY Sapporo!
On Sunday, I got to take my first climbing trip with all of Mommy & Daddy's friends. Shelly & Joe brought Hudson and we got to run all over the Carriage Road all day. It was great--I even did my first boulder problem. Daddy's an awesome spot.
It was so much fun to spend time with my "aunties" Janet and Summer.

Spring Break

Over Mommy's spring break, she and I went to Chicago to visit everyone and to throw Auntie Su-su a bridal shower. I got to spend lots of time with Mimi and Poppi, G-pa and G-ma, Noni, my aunts, and Kevin and Amy.

Aunt Amy and Mommy took me to Brookfield Zoo to see the Dinosaurs Alive! exhibit. Dinosaurs are cool. They go "Rooooaaaaaar!" I make a good dinosaur.I got to try on the flower girl dress I'm wearing for Aunt Su-su's wedding. I look pretty in dresses!
Oh, and the coolest thing I learned while I was in Chicago: jajic really DOES grow on trees!!!
I was so busy playing with everyone while I was home that I didn't get to take pictures of everyone--especially G-pa and G-ma! They'll send me some soon, though. G-ma gave me some of her jewelry to wear, and G-pa and I played peek-a-bo with the cuckoo clock. Shh!!! Cuckoo sleeping now.

My First Modeling Job

Sorry for the hiatus, all--but I have been a busy girl! Last month, I got my first modeling gig. I sat for Uncle Matt's Aunt Janice, who wanted to sculpt my head. I told her I wasn't sure I wanted my head encased in clay, but my mom & dad seemed to think it would be ok.
I gave Janice my approval--I thought the clay was a pretty good likeness! She told my mom she put some finishing touches on it after we left, but I haven't seen the final product yet. Can't wait to see how I've been immortalized!

My First Haircut

Mommy said some of my followers have been commenting on my shaggy hair. I totally agree! I have been trying to tell Mommy & Daddy for weeks now that my hair really needs a trim. It's always in my face when I'm playing, and lately I've found it hard to eat without getting a mouthful. It's about time for a haircut!
So, this afternoon, we went to Snipits in Fairfield. "Just a little trim up front and around my face," I told the hairstylist. I'd like to keep the length, please."

The first couple of snips were the scariest. I didn't want to end up looking like Betty Page! I mean, there are worse things, but I really just wanted long side-swept bangs like Reese Witherspoon.
I said, "Leave the length! Leave the length!"
Now, that's a cute looking kid. It's nice to be able to see myself again!

NYC Baby, Baby

We spent the day in NYC again today... this time in Chelsea and the West Village.

Shelly, Joe and my best boy friend Hudson all came to meet up with us. Summer met us for dinner, too! We checked out all kids of different art, both on the streets and in the galleries.

I played in several different parks, too!

We ate at a really yummy and really cheap italian place called Pepe's Verde. The folks on Yelp.com recommended it and I do, too. Everything was great... but not quite as great as the Magnolia Bakery cupcake. I don't get sugar often, but WOW!

New York Pizza: The best in North America

We had quite a morning. We went to Mollusk Surf shop where daddy talked to a friend and bought me a tshirt, bought mom a tshirt and himself a movie.

He also found a lot of expensive artwork from Maya Hayuk on the street. He luckily had connections to her through a friend Michael DeFeo at work, so he go them back to the owner.

That was cool and everything, but I found a park that I wanted to play in, so we spent almost an hour on the slides! It was so fun!

We went to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn... and until we ate there we thought that the best pizza around was the New Haven style... well... sorry. Grimaldi's blew it away!!!

A Week From the City of Angels

Well, a week after returning from the City of Angels, I'm no longer wondering why they call it as such--especially since I was a little angel most of the time...

Daddy's friend John, his great girl Kara, and doggie friend Olly invited us to stay with them in Redondo Beach. They saved us when the rental car place closed even though daddy kept calling and saying that we'd only be a few minutes late. It took a lot of effort for daddy to not put a rock through the window of the place... but John and Kara really saved our butts!

We all loved their house, even the avocado tree that threw an avocado at me one day. Daddy said it was a gift, and we made some doubly home-made guacamole. John didn't eat it. I think it was too green.

John and Daddy surfed together a few times. Daddy's such a kook, he rented a couple different boards, but always the wrong one for the day. Some day he'll be dialed in... ha! The water was cold, and some of the days were rainy and cold, but I loved the beach, as ALWAYS! Maybe some day we will be able to go to see the waves all the time.

A highlight of the trip was hanging out in La Quinta with Mimi and Noni, who were at their home away from home. Even Poppi came out to visit! What a treat!!! We went for boat rides and walks. What beautiful weather! What fun!

Seal Watching

A couple of weeks ago, we went to visit a new friend, Hans Thomas Weber. My mom and dad have been friends with his parents, John & Bridget, for a long time. Hans didn't seem to like me at first.

We were lucky to get a couple of warm days, so we could go for long walks on the beach. On one of our walks, we saw a seal that had been washed onto the beach.

He was really cute, but the beach ranger said his claws were really dangerous, so we just looked at him from a safe distance.

It seemed like we waited for high tide forever, in hopes that the seal would swim back into the ocean. Happily, he did!

I'm a BIG girl now!

Now that I'm almost two, there are lots of things I can do to help out Mom & Dad around the house. I can let Oscar in and out of the house to go "wee-wee"...

My trip to Chicago for Christmas coincided with a bunch of new things I was learning...Aunt Deedee and Uncle Matt taught me the "I'm gonna get you" game. You know, the one where you get chased around the house until you're laughing so hard you can't move? One of the other things I learned involved me collapsing to the floor in frustration whenever I was misunderstood or told, "No!"

Truthfully, I get told "No!" so often that I decided to start trying it out for myself.

Mommy and Daddy always point their fingers at me when I do something I'm not supposed to, so I figure when you say "No" you have to really mean it. After a couple of days though, I started to realize it was a lot funnier when you said it but didn't mean it. When you're just kidding, you make a face like this:

I had a really fun time with all of my relatives. We spent Christmas Eve with Grandma & Grandpa, and then went to Jen & Rick's house for Christmas Day. Don't we all look pretty?

This year, I wasn't quite sure what to make of Santa Claus. Mrs. Claus was all right, but that guy makes a girl pause to think. I like bearded men and all, (especially Grandpa) but there's a limit!

I got lots of great gifts from everyone. Check out my new "biker" t-shirt and sushi lounge pants! Aunt Amy also gave me a really cool wooden sushi set and stir-fry bowl! I got lots of play food stuff, which is great because I like to pretend to serve people at my table. Mimi got me a tea set, and Aunt Jen got me tons of great grocery store stuff, including a cash register and cart!

One of my favorite visitors was my godfather, Uncle Joe. It has been a long time since I saw him, so I gave him lots of extra hugs.

He deserved them, too--he got me a new baby who was just my size! (Thanks to Auntie May too--I know she picked her out especially for me).

I got so many presents that Mom & Dad had to pack them up in two boxes and ship them back to Connecticut...I'm still waiting for them to arrive so I can play with all my new things while I think about the fun time I had with everyone.

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

For some reason, it just doesn't start to really feel like Christmas until you've got a Christmas tree in your living room and some snow outside. Luckily, I've got both!

On Friday, Mommy & Daddy didn't have to go to work because of the big snowstorm, so we got to go outside and play in the snow lots. I finally got a chance to wear my new snowsuit, and I even made a snow angel!

Now that I'm getting bigger, I can do a lot of things that I couldn't do before. For one, I can bake my own potatoes .

I can wear my hair in a pigtail now...

...and I can eat EVERYTHING with all of my teeth. Check out my molar, too!

I can't wait to show off all my new skills at Christmas. See you soon!

Ten Days in the Life of a 17 Month Old

So I am going to backtrack a little...

Sunday was spent in the colllld! but we went for a carriage ride in Westport after Mom's yoga. The carriage ride was free, mom's yoga was free, but we had to pay for the hot cocoa... which was ok, since it was my first try... and it had FLUFF in it. Best ever!

Mommy's friend Summer helped Mommy with a whole new wardrobe. It looks amazing,and I can spot MOMMA from far away now!I took this photo, by the way.

We had some amazing pizza that mommy and daddy made the other night... fresh mozz and chicky and brocccccccolee. I taught Mommy and Daddy to eat with their hands!

Mommy's new gear is great, but these are really 'me', don't you think?

The week before we were in the near Catskills with Dan and Libby. here are some pics of me being cute with them...

What a Week: Much to Give Thanks For

What a week! I started out digging for buried treasure...

Then I got to go to Boston and hang out with my Grandma and Grandpa. They did all kinds of fun stuff with me, like reading...

And we went for walks in the super super cold!

And we played with the laptop they bought me!

Then on Thursday for Turkey Day we were invited to Janice and Francois's for Thanksgiving Dinner, where we got to see the Thompsons and eat lots of yummy yummy food! They brought me a new toy! Square peg goes in round hole, right?

I'm a ROCKER!

Everyone was trying to figure out my laptop. I know, those of us born with the Internet are so saavy!

Where does the time go?

So...it's been a while since I've posted about all of the fun things going on. Aside from getting a mouthful of teeth (all the better to chew my food with!) I have been honing my skateboarding skills.

My mom's friend Sarah came to visit and she brought me a really cool hat that she made all by herself!

She also made us her famous Pasta Carbonara. Yum!

While she was visiting, we went to see an exhibit at the Whitney Museum, where I had my first knish...

...and then we went for sushi at the site of Mom's 30th surprise birthday party--Jeollado. I looooove seaweed salad!

Trick or Treat!

This year for Halloween, I got to dress up as a ladybug! Mimi found me an awesome costume that was warm enough to wear outside without a jacket. It helps that today was a really nice day. My mom says she can't remember a Halloween that was ever this nice out. I'm a pretty lucky kid!

After school, we went to my friend Lillian's house. She was dressed up as a turtle this year.

Her dad was raking some leaves into piles just for me to jump and play in! Afterwards, we went trick or treating in town. We really hit the jackpot because they gave us two whole pizzas!
